Corporate Social Responsibility Training Course (CSR)

SIDART (Society For Intergrated Developmental Activities Research & Training) and GCNI (Global Compact Network India), the Indian arm of UNGC (United Nations Global Compact), have collaborated to start a one month certificate course (Experiential Training Course) of Corporate Social Responsibility. The course holds both social importance as well as importance for the future career of your students.

The Global Compact Network India was formed by the UNGC participant companies from India. It was registered in New Delhi in November 2003 as a Non-Profit Society (http://globalcompact.in/) to function as the Indian Local Network of the Global Compact Programme, functioning within a globally recognized and established initiative with a pan-India membership base. One of the key elements of the UNGC initiatives is the existence of business led multi stakeholders platforms of local networks which provide an opportunity for members to share experiences, innovative practices and collaborates for furtherance of responsible business values within country specific contexts.

The course on Corporate Social Responsibility, in turn, comes at an opportune time when the Indian corporate sector is gearing up to build capacity for it's CSR initiatives in the light of the new Companies Act 2013 mandating 2% of company profits for CSR activities. An approximate of 16,000 companies will be undertaking several CSR projects in compliance with this directive. This mandates a huge requirement for professionals who can lead and run CSR projects for these organizations and this course will lead the way in addressing this requirement to meet the needs of the industry. Career opportunities in CSR also reflect the diversity of the field and incorporate the private, public, and non-profit sectors. A career in this field could range across business, public sector, working in the compliance department of a multinational firm and go onto a niche consulting company providing CSR client services. Therefore, It is important that students are ready to take up this sector.

The orientation workshop, certification course in Corporate Social Responsibility and the distance learning course introduces students to the concept and practices with latest updates of corporate social responsibility and brings about perfect alignment between

(1) management practices

(2) corporate strategies and CSR as per Section 135, Companies Act 2013

(3) which will benefit officials from the Indian and global corporate and public sector entities

(4) It provides a comprehensive overview of the CSR debate, and

(5) It gives the student a thorough understanding of how to integrate CSR into corporate strategies, decision-making and management

(6) how to add value to the company and society in which it operates

The intent of the training course is to assist in the preparation of CSR heads for the rule of law in business and expand knowledge on social responsibility to collaborate with the objectives specified by the United Nations such as promote gender equality and empower women, eradicate extreme poverty & hunger, reduce child mortality, improve maternal health and other goals that match with the areas where the rate of 2 % of the profit can be invested according to the Act 135.

On successful completion of the course, UN-GCNI certification will be given to the participants
