Let me take this opportunity to invite you for a brainstorming session, a Multi-Stakeholder meeting on Collective Action. “Uniting Together –Addressing Corruption in the health echo system: being organized by SIDART in collaboration with the United Nations Global Compact Network India (UNGCNI), New Delhi. Of so many places in the country, this meeting (3rd round of discussions)is scheduled to take place in Jaipur.
Mr. Ratnesh Jha, the Executive Director at UNGCNI has kindly consented to chair the session and the driving force behind this collective action.

Dr. Pramila Sanjaya, the focal person UNGCNI- Rajasthan, shall give the perspective and background as well as moderate the session. Dr.Somnath Singh the Deputy Director, shall give us an overview on the topic as well as action taken up through UNGCNI across the nation. The views of each and every participant will add great value to the discussions.

As you would be aware that SIDART is a life member and partner with UNGCNI, we came forward and coordinated with UNGCNI. As the focal person UNGCNI the initiative was taken to conduct this meeting in Jaipur, Rajasthan. So we aim to bring together the key stakeholders in the domain of Health to discuss strategies and best practices for collective action to address the issues of existing, probable and possible corruption in the Health ecosystem.
Global Compact Network India (GCNI), the Indian Local Network of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), New York is the first Local Network globally to be established with full legal recognition. As the UNGC local arm, UNGCNI works on ‘10 Principles in areas of Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-corruption’ and provides a common ethical and practical Framework. Another key area of work is that of ‘Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’ adopted in September 2015, by all 195 Member States of the United Nations including India in order to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and protect our planet- understood and interpreted by businesses around the world, regardless of size, complexity or location.

SIDART was established on 1st January, 1998 by a group of passionate and dedicated individuals committed to the cause of empowerment especially towards women and children. SIDART realizes the importance of local wisdom, knowledge, and resources and uses a facilitative (non-directive) approach. It organizes training and capacity building programmes for individuals and upcoming organizations which are need based. Developmental activities are taken up as well action researches are the key areas. SIDART works through the mechanisms of direct intervention, community mobilization, health system strengthening, networking as well as, policy advocacy etc. in close coordination with government, Bilateral Agencies, INGOs, corporates, business houses, public health systems, civil societies, panchayats, academic institutions, corporate sector and the community at large. SIDART’s work on ground has influenced various policy decisions and contributed to policy making. SIDART is a life member with UNGCNI.

Corruption is a complex problem that affects every sector of society, hindering economic development, exacerbating poverty and inequality, and undermining the rule of law. The UNGCNI recognizes the importance of collective action in the fight against corruption and is committed to contributing to this fight in India.

The objectives of the meeting are as follows:
1. Fostering collective action for strengthening the culture of transparency and accountability in the healthcare ecosystem.
2. Devising strategies to combat corruption and improve systems in the domain of Health care.
Through this meeting, we intend to incorporate the point of view of all the participants to discuss this issue. There shall be a keynote speech and open discussion sessions. Please find the concept note attached for ready reference.
We believe that this meeting will provide a platform for stakeholders to share experiences and best practices, explore innovative approaches, and identify potential areas for collaboration.
The meeting is scheduled to be held on the 30th of May 2023.
Venue: Conference Hall -SIHFW, Jhalana Doongri, Jaipur.
